This morning the one and only duck egg in our incubator hatched and out came the most interesting looking little duck. In the past, our ducklings have been either yellow or black, but even in her dampened down state, I could tell that this duck was going to be a bit of both.
Her little beak looks like someone swirled black and yellow paint and the markings in her fluff are absolutely gorgeous.
Fully fluffed, she's lovely. So lovely that we decided a beautiful name was in order. (We have the Salon Express kit to thank for Grace's nails. It really does work.)
We are pleased to welcome Waverly.
Right now she's living with three chickens, and next week we will (hopefully) be welcoming four geese. We have no other duck eggs in the incubator so it may take Waverly a little while before she realizes she's an amazingly beautiful duckling.
