Ten on ten: ten pictures of life on the tenth day of the month.
| Carter woke up in the middle of Thursday night with a terrible croupy cough and stuffy nose, so Friday was his first kindergarten sick day. Sweethearts make the Mucinex (which works great but tastes terrible) go down much smoother. |
| Carter and I ate lunch at McDonald's. We sat at a table for two next to the fireplace. He stayed in his pj's all day. |
| Two blue hyacinths are making my house smell like spring. They're only in the garden stores for a little while. Go get one and bring it inside. The fragrance is truly amazing. |
| While I was picking up my hyacinths, I spotted a small, scrappy looking basil plant. It's the first basil I've seen this year. I brought it home and put it to good use. |
| We've eaten all of our farmer's market veggies, except for the spinach. I've been rationing it, a little bit every day. |
| I've discovered spinach smoothies are quite good. I add Greek yogurt for protein, almond milk for calcium, whatever frozen fruit we have on hand, a splash of vanilla, and as much spinach as I can cram in the blender. You really can't taste the spinach. |
| But you can sure see it. Grace and I have affectionately named the spinach smoothie the Green Monster. She loves them but has no idea the green is from raw spinach. I've been drinking at least one Green Monster a day. |
| Carter discovered football cards this week. His first pack had not one but two John Elway cards, which Carter promptly gave to me. Yes, I will keep buying Carter football cards, just seeing the old orange and blue makes my heart happy. |
| Post-Christmas clearance Amaryllis bulbs make lovely Valentine's blooms. |
| We finished dinner in time for an ice cream run. After all, a girl cannot live on spinach smoothies alone. |
