I've lived in Texas all of my life but I've never been to the coast during the winter. So, this year we decided to celebrate the arrival of 2012 in Galveston. My sister Susan and her foster son, T.C. joined us for the trip. We all arrived Friday evening, just after dark, and woke up Saturday morning to the thickest fog I've ever seen.
Serious fog.
Grace is an excellent cart driver and T.C. always has football on the brain.
The kids didn't let the fog slow them down.
A few hours later, the fog was gone and the weather was perfect.
We played in the soft white sandy part of the beach that is usually way too hot to walk on in the summer.
We buried Grace.
And Carter.
Our New Year's Eve dinner. Actually, I made everyone pose for a picture before I fed them. Worked like a charm.
While we were eating, the fog rolled back in.
This is what fog looks like when lit with a flash. It never rained a drop, it was just super foggy.
Running away from a freshly lit firework.
Sparklers!
New Year's Day we ate lunch on Seawall Boulevard.
The weather was absolutely amazing. No more fog.
The beach was chilly but beautiful.
The girls had a spa evening while the boys watched football.
It was a fabulous beach trip and a great way to ring in the new year.
