I saw the picture above a while back on Pinterest and filed it away in my fall file. I thought it was absolutely lovely of course, I mean, it's a large box filled with pumpkins, what's not to love?
It's big, bulky, impractical, will soon smell of foul pumpkins, so yeah, I decided I had to have one for myself.
For the past few weeks, I've been planning my big Thanksgiving table box. Picking things up along the way. Fortunately for me, stores start putting the Thanksgiving supplies on clearance sale at about the same time the Halloween stuff goes on sale, so this box hasn't been nearly the investment that it could have been.
Once I had my box fillers assembled, I enlisted my dad's help with building the actual box. Ok, he built the whole thing, but I was there for moral support.
Our finished, but still to be stained box. It looked like a very skinny pine coffin out of a western movie. A few coats of dark stain made all the difference.
This afternoon, I carried my big box inside and went to work on filling it up. I love the way it turned out.
I decided not to use any real pumpkins in my fall display. My plan is to switch out the pumpkins and fall colored flowers and candles for some more Christmas and winter themed items after Thanksgiving. That way I can get some more use out of my big Thanksgiving box.
Love, love, love.
My Thanksgiving centerpiece is so pretty I wish I'd put it together weeks ago. Now if I could just get the rest of my house to look like the house in the Pinterest picture...
